THE LIONS CLUB OF HASTINGS

1 Mar. A visit to our local Conquest Hospital produces a splendid haul of old hearing aids, enough to send to Frankland. Thanks Celia and gang.
8 Mar. A hundred and ninety five more aids from Frankland prison and they are most welcome.
13 Mar. We have another new outlet; this one is The Jomtien Branch of The Bangkok Cosmopolitan Lions Club. Member Joan McClymont contacted us and now a hundred hearing aids are on their way via Joan’s sister in Wigston, who is visiting in April.
14 Mar. My beloved and I spend a lovely day at the Palace of Westminster for UN Day with the Lions. Quite by chance I start chatting with Rosie Cooper MP who represents Ormskirk. A charming lady, who is most sympathetic to the needs of the hard of hearing and thus to our cause. And of course she represents one of best sources of Hearing Equipment, Bill Jones and Ormskirk Hospital.
15 Mar. Another box of probably 500 hearing aids are on their way north to Frankland for their magic.
16 Mar. Howard Ketley, our other man in the Philippines pops home to UK and brings a defective hearing aid from a girl who went swimming with it! We are hoping the technicians at Frankland can repair it before he goes back. Howard is taking another 50 more aids back with him.
19 Mar. A visit to one of our Lions cabinet meetings brings forth a splendid haul of equipment, including over 1600 from Eastbourne Lions. Ormskirk Hospital sends a box as well. Will update you when we get the rest sorted.
19 Mar. Among the hearing aids, now sorted, are a goodly number from BSHAA members in Belfast, Banbury, Harley Street London and the Secretariat, many thanks.
20 Mar. Something over 2000 hearing aids are on their way to “Our Friends in theNorth!”
24 Mar. We must add Togo and Burkina Faso to the countries that we have supplied with hearing aids. Hervè Mathieu Bloise from the Lions in Eu has done it for us! He also sent us some hearing aids that he cannot use in the Ukraine
2 Apr. Eighty-nine hearing aids all nicely packed arrive from Frankland. Thanks chaps!
20 Apr. With youngest grandson we head of for a day out to Dorchester. There we pick up a Honda CR-V full of obsolete equipment and about 200 hearing aids. The biggest single collection that we have ever had in one donation. Many thanks Tracy, Ralph and everyone who thinks of us there.
22 April. The “Yours” magazine article from last May is till working. A few more aids from different sources trickle in and they are all welcome
29 April. At our annual Lions Clubs convention in Scarborough our Chairman Sylvia presents a certificate of appreciation, a personal banner and a British & and Ireland banner to the Inside Out Trust and the instructors from Frankland. We surely value their support.
30 April. From the convention we bring home a splendid haul of hearing aids, 551 in total. They are from Norwich, Cambridge, District 105D and 460 from the Lions Club of Tamworth. Thank you all for your efforts.
