THE LIONS CLUB OF HASTINGS

5 May. I finally manage to pack one of Dorset’s audiometers and 108 hearing aids for Lion Hugh, Ophelia and the gang in Medical Missions in the Philippines. Now I must get it on its way.
9 May. A beautiful plaque for the technicians at Frankland Prison arrives from Hugh and Ophelia Thom in the Philippines, plus some more photos of new recipients. It is wonderful to get such positive feedback.
11 May. 6.3 kg of hearing aids are on their way to Frankland for checking. Don’t ask us to count them!
11 May. 196 hearing aids are on their way to Cambodia and our good friend Glyn Vaughan. Another 96 are posted to London but will end up in Sudanese ears. Another new destination!
17 May. I return from the mayor making ceremony and lunch (we do things properly in Hastings) to find a big surprise. An old friend from a competitor company, from those days 10½ years and more ago, when I was working, sends a serviceable hearing aid. It is nice to be still remembered in this way and I am touched, so thank you John.
19 May. I have just managed to sort out the masses of hearing aids, batteries and a set of false teeth that I collected from our colleagues in Chichester last Sunday! Thanks be to all of you who sent them including Accrington Lions, Countess of Chester Hospital and Capital Audiology of Harley Street, London
