Who are we?
Lions Clubs International is a worldwide organisation of people who enjoy helping others less fortunate than themselves
With a membership of approximately 1.4 million in over 43,000 clubs in 187 geographical areas. Lions International is the largest service organisation of its kind in the world. There are approximately 900 clubs in Britain, where Lionism has been serving communities of all sizes for over 50 years.
A Lions Club has no full time organisers and all the work is done in our spare time with the support and help of our partners and families
What do we do?
Locally our scope is wide; our aims are practical and our service is needed and includes:
Assisting communities and families in distress and giving help to housebound people. The provision of equipment and teaching aids for physically and mentally handicapped children and adults. Provision of hospital equipment. Sponsorship of Medic-Alert. Encouragement to young people to get involved with community service. Financial support for other local charity groups and organisations. Help in educating and sponsoring drug awareness schemes within the community. Specifically Hastings Lions organise the collection of used hearing aids which are renovated and sent to third world countries. We also join with other clubs in sending many hundreds of pairs of used spectacles to the third world.
Internationally Lions horizons are much wider that the boundaries of their own country. They are in partnership in service with Lions throughout the World.
