THE LIONS CLUB OF HASTINGS

1 March. 2007 It is good to start a new month on a high because we are sending 15kg of hearing aids up to our “Friends in the North” at Frankland. That is 38lb in old money and a heck of a lot of hearing aids. Well done everyone.
2 March. There is a young lady from Feltham who has been trying to send us 3 hearing aids since September 2006. She wins the persistence prize, for today Donna you succeeded. For that effort we thank you and whoever receives them will thank you for the gift of hearing.
21 March. See 11 January item, we have sent a couple of hearings, a new mould and some batteries to our ex Pakistan air force apprentice friend Ashraf. We do hope he gets good use from them.
26 March. It was worth going to Uckfield Lions Curry Lunch yesterday. Bexhill Lion David Burstow donated two of his old hearing aids.
29 March. It is a busy day today. I send 100 hearing aids to our Lions friends in EU France, Hervé and Anne-Marie. We receive 215 much-needed hearing aids from Frankland. Some of those aids will be on their way to the Philippines in exchange for a box of old ones arrived from Ophelia out there. On top of this we received a rather special hearing assister from Lion Laurie Taylor of the Surrey Border Club. Days like this we appreciate, thanks everyone.

5 April. A tympanometer is on its way to Dr Chandra at the Colombo National Hospital in Sri Lanka.

10 April. As a result of a recent letter from our good friend Glyn Vaughan, on leave from Cambodia, we have sent him a piece of kit called an Audioscan. We believe it is quite useful but do not ask what it does!
12 April. We send a top up for Ophelia Thom in the Philippines in the shape of 150 hearing aids. She is carrying on the late Dr Hugh’s great work.
