TENERIFE LIONS VISIT
This last month has seen a return visit of a group of Tenerife under-privileged children and carers with a few Lions from the Tenerife Sur Lions Club. In May the Tenerife Lions entertained a party of children & carers from England for 2 weeks. Then on 29th June a party of 33 children and 17 adults arrived at 23.45pm and were met at Gatwick by John & Wendy for a 1-week stay in England.After an overnight stay near Gatwick they were welcomed on the Monday lunchtime at Coombe Haven Holiday Park by President Val and John C.
On Tuesday the group visited the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, paid for by the Hastings Lions Club & President Val, Zone Chairman Wendy & John C attended.
After being entertained by the Eastbourne Lions on Wednesday at Drusillas and the Bexhill Lions on Thursday at the Bowling , on Friday the Hastings Lions again helped the group when they visited the Smugglers Caves, Funfair on the seafront and the Blue Reef Aquarium in the Old Town.This day was paid for by the Sevenoaks Lions Club. The party night on Saturday for the groups final function was arranged at a local pub with buffet and disco and what a great time was had by all.
Many Lions from other clubs attended, including some from as far as Cranleigh and Thurrock. A presentation was made to each Club and to District from the Tenerife Lions Club for all the help that was forthcoming from the Zone 2B and District this year.
